Guppy grass, najas grass, or – scientifically – Najas guadalupensis, is a fast-growing plant that is especially great for breeding tanks and shrimp tanks. It provides a good hiding place for fry, and shrimp love it too. Guppy grass efficiently pulls nitrate from the water column, so it can be used in heavily stocked tanks to keep nitrate levels low.

NOTE: 1 portion is about a small handful, see 2nd picture for a rough estimate of 1 portion

bushy

I really wanted a big bushy fast growing plant for my tank and in my travels on youtube (mainly Foo the Flowerhorn) I came across guppy grass. This stuff is hard to find! There's a local fish place near me but it's not something they could get....the big box stores? Forget it. I ordered one portion and it's floating for now near my frogbit and red floaters. My plan is for it to fill in the back corner of the tank. I have much better luck with animals than plants but there's already new growth so it must be doing okay. My betta likes it and sits in the leaves.

Love it and hate it

I love it because I started with such a small amount and now I have such a large amount. I find myself just tossing the trimming, not really knowing what to do with it. Plus out of all my stem plants these seem to be the hardest for me to master planting.
