Description

Alternanthera Reineckii, also known as "AR" or "Scarlet Temple", is the ultimate beginner friendly "red" plant. Originating from South America, this iconic stem plant is easily one of the most popular red aquarium plants for freshwater tanks, and for good reason! Unlike many other notoriously difficult red aquarium plants, Alternanthera Reineckii is relatively forgiving, making it an excellent choice for intermediate aquascapers looking to level up their planted tank game.

While Alternanthera Reineckii can grow in low light tanks, it really thrives under medium to high lighting and develops its most vibrant red coloration when provided with nutrient-rich substrate, regular fertilization, and CO₂ supplementation. While it can grow without injected CO₂, optimal conditions will encourage faster growth, fuller stems, and deeper red coloration.

NOTE: 1 portion is 1 bunch, which is around 3-4 stems

Information:

  • Care: Easy
  • CO2: Not Required but highly recommended if you want brighter coloration
  • Growth Rate: Moderate
  • Lighting Requirements: Low-Medium
  • Propagation: Stem Cuttings
  • Max Size: 12"+
  • Preferred Fertilizer: Root Tabs
