ADVANTAGES:
If one regards an aquarium as an independent ecological system, snails (and also other invertebrates such as shrimps) cover a useful, almost irreplaceable function. They do not exclusively eat biofilms and growths - and are therefore important algivores - but they also eat all the “dirt” that’s accumulating in your tank. More specifically sludge, fish dung, dead plant parts, carcasses, and food leftovers. All of these things contain organic substances that - if not utilized -increase the water load and also the number of bacteria in the water. Snails eat organic garbage. As so-called consumers, they process food leftovers and pass them down the food chain. Finally, bacteria and other microorganisms - the decomposers - break up the remnants into their mineral constituents.

Arrived Alive

Ordered these to feed my puffer. I didn’t bother counting them, seemed like 20, but they were all alive and active once I dropped them in their tank. They shipped many sizes. Perfect.

Little Cuties

Had a bladder snail sneak into my aquarium and decided to buy it some friends. They all arrived alive and about a month later, all but one are alive and thriving. Side note: I did request only to buy 7 instead of 20-25.

Great Product

Puffer cleaned out all my other snails, so these are a great starter to get a colony up and running again for more feedings. Alive and heathy after shipping. Will buy more in the future.

Snails!

Excellent, healthy snails. Great for starting up a snail tank to feed my Figure 8 puffer. Will definitely do business with Windy City again!
