ON ROCKS & WOOD - EPIPHYTES

Aquarium Mosses and Epiphytes such as Anubias, Bucephalandra, and Ferns, are aquarium plants that should be grown attached to hardscapes, such as rocks and wood, or aquarium decorations. These plants should not be planted in aquarium soil and should instead be attached to hardscape or aquarium decor. If you do plant to plant these plants directly in your aquarium's substrate, be sure to only bury their roots and leave their rhizome exposed to prevent the plants from rotting.
